AURA ...the new generation active monitor

 

 

Scope

Even though offering the same design features as the VIOLA, the smaller AURA is to be operated as monitor speaker on a separate stand.

It is incorporating WLM's experience and knowledge in the making of loudspeakers. This loudspeaker, for active operation only, is made in the highest level of workmanship, with few but rigidly selected parts is one of the most authentic means of sound reproduction available today.

The decision to employ natural material is aiming primarily to improve the sound qualities, besides being in favour of the environment.

The uncompromising preference for the active operation is based on the conviction that this is the superior technology of sound reproduction available today.

The combination of the AURA with the external, adjustable WLM filtering unit SYSTEM CONTROL is, due to the absence of other alternatives, by far the best choice.

The AURA marks, as unspectacular as it may appear, the summit of loudspeaker development, since it will bring the music lover in the most direct way to the emotional core of music

Construction

The compact, resonance reducing box is made of MDF, having a wall thickness of 20 mm. This construction provides stability and strength to the speaker as well as offering a distinctly audible acoustic advantage. The quality of craftsmanship in the best Austrian tradition of wood working is warrant for a reliable product to function securely over many years.

The compact monitor box has the same cross-section as the VIOLA, however has to be placed on a heavy and solid stand for operation.

The powerful medium/bass driver has a diameter of 8'' (210 mm). Very stiff paper membranes and pure sheep wool for acoustic dampening are employed for improved performance.

The unique PAC-Tweeter assembly, a very important functional element of the WLM-speakers, are placed on top of the speaker housing for improved stage-like wave emitting and to avoid interference with the medium/bass driver.

Being foreseen for the active operation only, the AURA has no built-in filter of its own. At the rear it has 4 solid metal WBT connecting prongs (for banana or forked cable ends), the upper pair of prongs connecting the tweeters, the lower pair connecting the medium/bass drivers.

 

Functioning and quality of sound reproduction

Only in conjunction with the external filtering system SYSTEM CONTROL is the AURA able to display its full and unique potential. Via the SYSTEM CONTROL you are able to adjust and optimize the sound reproduction to the prevailing acoustics of any given room and to your individual additional preference, flexibly and comfortably (e.g. via the optional remote control)

Having a sensitivity of 98 dB/1W, the AURA is not very demanding regarding the power rating of the amplifiers to be used. However, particular emphasis should be placed on the quality of the signal provided.

The quality of the parts and craftsmanship employed in this speaker system is enabling the listener to an unprecedented experience of music enjoyment, short only of assisting a life performance.

The unusual extension and depth of the three-dimensional sound stage, the finest resolution of detail, clarity of sound right to the smallest roots of the signal, coherence over all frequencies, a breath-taking build-up of a solid bass foundation are some of the impressions of listening.

However, all attempts to describe the properties of this speaker will fall short to the impact of the first encounter with this new speaker’s performance. After all, the emotional part of this listening experience, the way this speaker is able touch our mind and soul, each of us will have to find out for himself.
